The First of Many

So here we go. This blog is for my class at CSN and will be mostly about my weight loss and researching different types of diets and exercise programs. I have been on diets since I was 11 and have been fat my whole life. Not chubby, not hefty, FAT! I weight 385 lbs. Yep! As Gabriel Iglesias  would say, DAAAAAAMN! So I decided I would use this blog to track my progress through this semester of school and also use it to post research that I find out while I am on this journey to self awareness and enlightenment. Pretty deep huh. ;)

  1. Best of luck to you. I hope that the self-inflicted publicity might be helpful. I believe it strengthens the will power to know that others are "looking." We will be cheering you on. And as you find some things that work, we'll probably join you. There are not many Americans in our super-sized world who cannot afford to lose some pounds.

  2. This is awesome! I'd like to read about journey and updates! Also, help some of us out too! If there's some exercise routines that have been working for you throughout all this let us all know! I have been wanting to go on a daily routine but haven't found something that stuck. I'm not over weight or anything but have just been wanting to get started on a healthy route! Good luck to you!

  3. Realization and determination to act is half the battle. I can already see your headline. It'll be a tough fight ahead, but any fight can be beaten with the appropriate willpower.

  4. We've got your back bro. Just the fact that you're inviting us on the journey with you shows that you're serious. There are a million and one exercise plans and diets out there but the best thing you can possibly do is "KISS". That's right "Keep It Simple......". I won't say the rest but I know you feel me. If nothing else try "walking". I lost 20 pounds last year just by walking. I started out walking a mile each morning. After a couple of months I was walking three miles per day. It was nothing strenuous like "P90X" or "Insanty" but it worked for me. Before I knew it, I was so encouraged by my results that I started "Juicing" and watching everything I ate. Before a year was up I added a few pushups and situps to my regiment. I started out slow and added what felt comfortable to me. Before I knew it I was in as good of shape at "51" years old as I was as a teenager. One more thing...keep your goals obtainable. Shoot for losing one pound per week. If you lose more, great. If not, you'll lose at least fifty pounds per year. I hope this helps...good luck.

  5. That is such an impressive goal. It's tough to put yourself out there like this with random people, so in a sense...we are happy to help you help yourself! This will be quite the task for you and I, and I am sure the rest of us, will try to help and guide any way we can! I wish you luck in this journey!

  6. Andrew, one of my buddies was over 400 pounds a couple of months ago. He took glutens out of his diet and has dropped 60 pounds in the last month or so.

I was 280 and now about 225, my secret was to eat! I have a habit of only eating when hungry so my body tended to store every calorie. I mean eat healthy most of the time and nibble all day long. This stops the body from hoarding fat.

Lastly, the only diet that works is no diet. If start eating crap that you would not normally eat the diet can't last long. I would suggest moderation and constant snacking.

My best buddy is popcorn! Now wish me luck on giving up sugar, its like crack to me, lol.
